Pattern:
Better than baby booties Chevron Lace* pattern by Ann Budd
Yarn:
Patons Kroy 4 ply
Needles:
5 DPN 2.50mm
Started:
December 9th, 2006
Finished:
December 19, 2006
Changes and Notes:
I read the instructions wrong on the cuff to start and after that, I decided to make the pattern my own and made many changes. First it was supposed to be a picot edge, instead, it’s now just a finished edge with a little ruffle. To make, knit 6 rows, yo k2g 1 row, next row, pick up the co edge stitch and knit it with the next stitch. Continue until all stitches are done. and voila!
The Lace pattern is supposed to run down the whole sock and be more noticable and be more down the front of the sock. But the intended baby is a boy, I figure I want this to be interesting to look at but not frilly or too prissy. So, I just did the ‘lace’ on the sides of the sock and did not extend it down the foot. So, 4 repeats of the pattern on the cuff. Then turn heel, knit 21 rounds for the foot. Make toe. The pattern calls for a zig zag toe, but I did a kitchener Stitch toe.
All in all, a fun knit. I don’t love the sock yarn to knit with as I find it to be less tightly twisted than I would like with small sharp points. The lace pattern was really easy to memorize and the size of course, leads to a quick knit. In fact, it look so long it would seem because I was busy knitting other things in between each sock. Each sock completion time was closer to 1 day or 1 evening and 1 afternoon.
Recipient:
Jocelyn, for her soon to be born baby boy.
