The last two day have brought some knit related news that made me happy.

Yesterday, the announcement on See Eunny Knit of her new job as the editor for Interweave Knits

Today, the opening of cookiea.com

Eunny Jang as Editor of Interweave Knits

Eunny takes over from Pam Allen this month as editor. The press release (PDF) mentions that Pam Allen is leaving to do needlework. Now that’s extremely interesting. I can’t wait to see what that’s about.

I’ve been following Eunny’s knitting and designs on her blog for a while and I love what she comes up with and I like her approach to knitting with a look back at the history but still moving forward into the future.

Interweave Knits is my favorite knitting magazine and I’ve recent decided (pre-announcement) to subscribe to the magazine again and now I’m looking forward to it even more than ever.

Don’t know Cookie? Then you haven’t been following socks on knitty.com. She’s got quite a few designs on knitty and is the designer of the Monkey socks I made earlier this year.

Monkey was such a dream to knit that I’m looking forward to more of her designs. And I’ve been following the selection she had showing at Stitches West earlier. Well, the long awaited online shop is open and so many more of us can get her designs! While the designs are not expensive (nor cheap) there are so many that I cannot buy them all in one shot. I’ll have to decide on which I’d like to get. However, I do like so many of them it’s really a matter of slowly getting them all.

I like how she’s built up quite a following of her designs before opening the store. I’m sure she’s going to make some good money with this since she has many fans. With the direct to market publishing of the designs, she gets to cut out the middle man. But with her booth at Stitches, it’s obvious she’s not doing only online sales. I’m planning on keeping an eye on her business approach and see how it goes. So far, I find that it has been quite savvy.

The store: cookiea.com

And of course, the geek in me is wondering what shopping cart she’s using, how the site the programmed etc. etc.
