When I first moved into the apartment nearly two years ago, I insisted on having an office of my own. I wanted a place where I can do computer work. I wanted a place to do some design. Later on, it became the place I worked from home on my web design business.
Changes are coming down the line. G’s resigned from his job of almost 9 years and is moving to another job at the end of this week. This new job has more flexible hours and he will do most of it working from home.
The new job also makes room in his schedule to start his MBA which starts in April. He’ll need study space.
This change does mean our living room space shrinks a little more and we have to rework and re-order the office space. My little home office needs to become our little home office.
We went to Ikea today and got the new desk. We’ve converted my old desk, part of the really flexible Galant office line, and extended it. We’ve moved out some off the storage in the area and will have to find a new spot for it.
It will take a lot more organization to finish but it’s started. We need to find more places for storage. A shelf will move from the bedroom to the office for extra storage space.
This momentum and movement will make room for us to finally put up a few more photos and artwork that’s been sitting on in boxes since I’ve moved. It’s hard to get started on work on the apartment once you’ve stopped. I’m determined to get more done during this period than just the office. The bedroom will get a little work. The kitchen area will get a little work done. The whole place gets a little lift perhaps.
I really like the idea of how these changes seem so organic. The next stage in living. We’ll move some pieces, and change some pieces. We grow and the place grows with us.
At this stage, the possibilities are limitless. Perhaps before he starts the MBA, G will get a chance to help me get most of this done.
While this is a lot of work, it’ll be effortless compared to the hardest part. We will be adjusting to having the two of us working here at the same time, and trying not to kill each other!

Congratulations to G on the new job! Sounds like a good move for him given that he’s starting his MBA.
Gee, I guess this takes togetherness to new levels!
Good luck — I think it’s going to be quite an adjustment for both of you.
