New York Recommendations

May 23rd, 2007 by May

I loved living in New York but it’s time to admit that while I’m always a New Yorker at heart, I really only now visit New York as just another tourist.

It’s time for the New York Recommendations, the idea of course, is to keep track of what I love, share it with the world who may be interested, and get a jump start on filling out my New York Moleskine Citybook, which I got for my birthday: Thanks Theresa. moleskineCityBookNYTribeca.jpg

In any case, like my Paris version, the New York Recommendations take similar form. I will likely not be able to put it out as quickly in a week, but I’ll try not to have too many days in between. There’s just so much more for my NY book than my Paris ones :)

Even during my last visit I have to admit that much has changed. New York is ever changing, but somehow when you live there, the changes are more fluid and you don’t notice it much. It’s a matter of daily life. When you go back to visit, you see all of them as glaring differences between what was in your memory and what your eyes show you. All the signs that say you no longer belong here and look what you’ve missed and see how this place isn’t yours anymore…

But then again, New York belongs to everyone a different way. It’ll always have a piece in my heart. I hope to live there again one day, but for now, I’ll add to my jigsaw memories with new images and experiences and add to my list of les bonnes adresses.

Here’s the schedule:
