Meeting Ms. Stephanie

May 26th, 2007 by May

DSCF0056.jpgWhere I pose with the Yarn Harlot and my sock met her sock.

Patty and I arranged to meet up at about 6-6:15pm to try to make sure we got seats. Turns out that was a fortuitous time since the line had started even though the seats weren’t set up. While I was trying to stuff my face with a sausage outside the shop, she was smart enough to get in-line and we got seats!

This was the scene at just about 6:20 or so and right after they started to fill the seats. There are already people in the standing room, for some reason I didn’t have the idea to take a photo of them? duh. DSCF0046.jpg 20070525-DSCF0047.jpg One of the empty chairs on the left side of this photo was my seat.

Stephanie was charming and funny and I had a great time; even if the seats hurt your butt after a while. I was glad to stand and wait in-line when the time came to get the book signed. I needed the stretch, and truth be told, I was tired already. Pathetic, I know, but I’m claiming a bad night sleep the night before. Well, let’s just say that I had no juice left for the pub after. Gee, how old am I? Oh and meanwhile, Stephanie was dropping a comment on my blog after 3am!! I admire your energy!

It was a lot of fun and a whole lot of excitement. There’s a mini photoset of photos from last night on my flickr.

Thanks to Patty for being the photographer for the photos of Stephanie and myself with our socks. Stephanie also picked up my sock and knew immediately it was Monkey, even though I did mess it up a bit knitting it while waiting: Turns out I have no skills knitting in a crowd of knitters. I did have to fix up my sock, but manage not to need to rip it apart, but just did some fancy needlework on the subway home.

Today’s the yarn crawl, I’m sure it would be a lot of fun. I’m passing on it since I recently went a little nuts buying stash, and well, there’s no room left in the small apt for more. Time for the credit cards to take a break. I’ll spend the day doing some work, reading the new book, and doing some knitting instead. Yeah, I’m starting with the knitting and putting off work as long as I can ;)

You and your new monkey sock look great with the Yarn Harlot (and her traveling sock, of course). Sounds like you had a fun time!

Very cool that Stephanie posted a comment! You’re moving along on that sock since you only just started it.
