I confess

June 18th, 2007 by May

Yes, I confess, I’m a cheater.

While I can maintain good tension with my fingers with the knitting. I’m not doing it on my own anymore. I am cheating with using a tool. One that I have loved for years. CroKnit-1.jpg

I have only recently came to my senses: Why have one tool that I move from project to project when I can have one for every project.

So, now, I enjoy less cramping of fingers and more knitting with every project now that my order from patternworks has come in.

Seriously though, I had so much trouble with the stupid patternworks website that day I wanted to order, I just called them and got it over with. Their phone service is top notch.

But does it change how you hold the yarn comparing to how you would hold it when you didn’t have this gadget?

nope, not at all, I would have just wrapped the yarn around my forth finger just like I wear the ‘ring’ on that finger.
Since I wrap yarn around 4th finger on both hands (continental or english way, since I do knit both ways, ) and the ring fits that way for me, nothing changes. I can image how it would change for someone who may hold their yarn differently or the ‘tool’ is not sized to fit them. The way I use it, is not the necessarily prescribed way according to the product instructions; but it works well for me :)

See now, I don’t think it’s cheating to use a tool that helps you improve your craft. In fact, I should invest in this. My tension is terrible and my stitches are so uneven.
