After winding up the yarn on Friday, it was time to get started on MS3 since I had all my tools and supplies. We moved some furniture onto the balcony and I sat and knitted while G studied on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
This is my first Knit-a-long (KAL) and my first real big lace project. I’m being a little ambitious about it, but hey, why not?
It turned out really well as a start. While it’s not meant for someone who’s new to lace knitting; I guess due to the charting, the beading, etc. I think I’m catching on quickly since I’ve been learning lots of tricks recently reading my books and I came from 10+ years of chart reading. After-all, that’s the whole point of cross-stitch. Translate chart to fabric. So, turned out to be easier to catch on than I had feared. But I am glad I am not doing the beads
As of end of Saturday, chart A was done, but the majority of the work still to go.
And no, I didn’t swatch it like I’m supposed to. I figured, I’m not using beads, the pattern starts with a 2 stitch cast on, if I knit for a few rows and hated what I saw, I’d restart it on a different size needle.
I just did a project on US5 (3.75mm) and I guessed that US3 (3.25mm) would do when I saw the thickness of the Cashwool. I like it the results so far. I’m not looking for anything bigger and I can see the YOs nice and clearly, so, I never did switch to using US4 (3.50mm) that I had out for Just in case
.
The design is really rather addictive. I’m always itching to go back to working on it. But there are not always time or place, since it requires major concentration or it’s a-tinkin’-I-go. But there is more progress in the long weekend since these photos. More updates later.

Very nice! I like your new ball winder toy. I probably should invest in one some day.
Look at you, so organized.
And you are doing the beading, too!
Woohoo! Lace on!
