Crushed

September 19th, 2007 by May

I’ve been crushed by my crushing sweater.

I finished knitting the sleeves today. (Doing both at the same time to try to limit the pain of having to make them again.)

They are too long still (that is after I cut off 2 inches from the original pattern, it’s still too long. I need two more inches off.)

I sew in the set in sleeves, sure, badly, but it’s still obvious that the sleeves are too big in width. When my arms are relaxed, there is a extra 3-4 cm too much fabric. No matter how fat I get, my arm won’t get that big while the rest of me still the same size to fit the sweater body.

I am really pissed that this pattern doesn’t include a schematic for the sleeves. I’m going to have to knit it over again.

This time, even 2 inches shorter, and instead of making the size of the sleeve to match the body, I’m going to make the smallest size. I feel as if I have the stubbiest arms on the planet at this point.

So, again, I need to rip these sleeves. I can’t bare to do it right now. Maybe in a few days.

Then I need to put this sweater away for a while. I’ve been at it since April, and I’ve stalled like you won’t believe. I just cannot knit these sleeves again right away. I just can’t bring myself to it.

I really wanted a new sweater for fall, for now, it’s not going to happen unless I go out and buy one.

Now, I need to find a few projects to tackle that won’t kill me. I need to have some finishes to give myself a boost.

I’m going to crawl into a little hole now.

How disappointing. It’ s so difficult to redo something when it gets messed up. It really takes the fun out of the project. I think you should start a new, fun project.

Oh dear. Yeah, I know that feeling. Go crawl into your little happy place until the feeling goes away. (Said as I start this @#$% hat for the third time.)
