The pain!

January 28th, 2008 by May

I’ve finally rediscovered my love of lace knitting. I have been working, and fighting Hanami for months. Most of the time I’m so frustrated with the experience that it’s been hibernating more than WIP. I started to think that I no longer love lace or that my skills are much lacking. So, to test out the theory, I decided to cast on for Forest Canopy Shawl and jump into something new and see if that’s true.

This new piece has been a joy to knit! I can’t put it down in fact, so far so, I’m really nearly done with it and I cast on last Friday. In fact, technically following the directions, I should have stopped a couple of repeats ago. However, given that I have more yarn, I’m extending the pattern for a bigger piece. A couple more evenings and it would be complete. I’m so enamoured with it that I’ve had to rest my hands many times over the weekend since I’ve been over doing it a bit working on the lace.

I was picturing the joy of blocking it, photography and showing it off on the blog. Unfortunately for me, this evening while I cook dinner, I burnt my finger. The one I use to wrap yarn and move it for continental knitting. It’s hurting like crazy now. While not blistering, yet, it’s got that bad pain. So, no more knitting for the night. I’m hoping it’ll be better tomorrow, but it’s not a sure thing.

So, tonight, I suffer the pain of a burn and the pain of not being able to continue a project in progress that I’m dying to work on. Argh.

Now, off to find a book to read.

Ow. owowowowowow. I know your pain. You almost wish it would blister and get it over with.

    Almost.

    Heal fast!

Sometimes a project just doesn’t work out and in the end it doesn’t even matter what the reason is. Wrong pattern, wrong time… It’s good that you tried something else and found that you still enjoy lace. :)

    Good luck with the finger!
