Zerofootprint Calculator

This types of calculators have been around in the US for a while now, but of course, none of them worked for Canada.
Finally, there’s one I can use.

City of Toronto launches it’s Zero Footprint calculator. It appears to be quite easy to use and I like how you can pledge to do better. Given that I don’t drive and rarely travel, I tend to do better on these scores. However, we do live in a condo, and cannot participate in any green bin programs, so we’re looking at doing our own indoor compost.

This in door composter by NatureMill is likely something we’ll be getting soon, budget permitting. When I went to the website last week, the only dealer I could check out in Canada was HomeDepot.ca and their price and selection was all wrong. We were set on ordering from the US, but looking at the site again today, it’s much better. They might not have lost the sale after all. Yes, it’s pricey, but given the amount of items we can compost, I think it’ll be well used in our household and it’s well worth it not to waste, and be able to reuse the waste. All our friends and family will love us for our compost. :)

Seriously, if you live in an area where organic composting isn’t done by your municipality or that you think composting is hard or gross, check out the NatureMill products. They make it all seem so easy!

I am lucky enough to have a compost pile in the back corner of my property. While I don’t claim to be the greenest person on the face of the earth, it’s something so easy to do. And my garden boxes thank me for it in tomatoes later on. : )
