Continuing with my virtual Cherry Blossom visit

If I’m there for a longer trip, I’d likely go back to some of my favorite places to eat. However, even for a short weekend, I’ll always end up sometime at Kramer’s Books and Afterwards. It’s ridiculously busy during [...]

2008.03.28: Added photo.
Getting a haircut today meant I got to stop by Romni, and yes, they have the new Noro Kureyon Sock yarn in stock. Loads of it. I came home with a love colour-way. Actual photos tomorrow, it’s too dark now.

Yes, the shipment that was delayed supposedly due to the container being hit by [...]

Cherry Blossom Season

March 25th, 2008 No Comments

Yes, I spent all last night working out how to do a provincial cast on for the new shawl I planned to cast on. I wound up all the Silk Thread II into a cake without any issues. The colours look even better than in the skein. I timed it, it took 10 minutes.
Here I [...]

Bind off

March 24th, 2008 No Comments

I’ve just put down my needles on my most recent lace project. Once again, the bind off was the most tedious boring part of the project. I’m so glad it’s done. It’s a triangular shawl which ends on the wide side, so, once again, the piece just grew and grew as I went along.
It’ll [...]

It wasn’t until I got home that I realized that it’s not Silk Thread but Silk Thread II! It’s got a little less yardage so now I’m not sure if I’ve enough for Simurgh.
I went [...]

bug reporting

March 11th, 2008 1 Comment

In software programming, there’s a particular experience that is bug reporting.
There are many forms of this experience. One example: you’ve downloaded a feature package, a library of code, to (re)use. You use it, and some thing is wrong. The behaviour isn’t what you expected nor documented. But you can pinpoint the problem. You start to [...]

Will be a sweater

March 10th, 2008 No Comments

See this?

It’s a pile of knits.
Technically, it’s 1 front, 1 back, 2 sleeves, 2 cuffs that will one day be a sweater that can be worn.
This was a really quick knit, started it while I was sick on New Years Eve/Day, and 80% of the knitting was done by end of January. The cuffs was [...]

Sleeves: Before and After

March 4th, 2008 No Comments

It’s been ages, but my languishing unfinished cabled sweater needed to be ripped.

I do feel better. It needed to be done. I was this close to ripping out the body and trying again with a different pattern. But I think I’ll give it one more go this year.
