Just read: The Story of French
May 24th, 2008 1 Comment
Some books are entertaining and some are educational. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that’s been equally both: The Story of French by Jean-Benoit Nadeau and Julie Barlow. I was turned on to their first book Sixty Million Frenchmen Can’t Be Wrong by my dear French friend Fred. I highly enjoyed that [...]

Cruise: Lisbon

Best of Lisbon set: Complete Lisbon set: I’ll just start by saying outright: Lisbon is HILLY. That’s it. It’s a lovely port stop and we had fun, but if you are going to go sightseeing alone, you need two things to keep you going: a compass and comfortable shoes for climbing hills. We had the [...]

Cruise: At Sea
May 20th, 2008 1 Comment
The transatlantic cruise always means a lot of time At Sea. This was something I was looking forward to, and G needed to relax between school terms. Full At Sea set: This trip, however, we had more time At Sea than expected. We were originally scheduled for 6 days, then we’ll arrive from Bermuda to [...]

Cruise: Bermuda

Best of Bermuda set: Complete Bermuda set: Before heading onto the cruise, I had checked the weather and saw that it was forecasting rain for our port stop. So while I wasn’t surprised when we got there that it was gloomy, but I was disappointed. So, I settled myself for a drizzly trip, but wasn’t [...]

Ornette Progress
May 18th, 2008 1 Comment
I’ve been doing well on my test knitting sock. I started off doing the cuff for size L and have decreased to a size M by the time I got to the ankle and foot. Turning the heel and have now reach the toe.

Best of Florida Photoset: (click on photo) Florida photoset (Complete): (click on photo) When I told a friend recently that I’ve never been to Florida before this trip, he was shocked, but it’s true. We found it hot, but at least there was this lovely breeze from the ocean that really helped. Fort Lauderdale had [...]

Test Knitting Ornette Socks
May 11th, 2008 3 Comments
I’m currently a test knitter for the new cookiea pattern: ornette (on ravelry). One more thing I can say I’ve done. It’s going well so far and it is fun. The best part is that I get to work on this sock. I’ve been staying away from any sock patterns of any complexity lately and [...]

Where I went on my holiday
May 10th, 2008 No Comments
The big holiday this year was a cruise! It was supposed to leave from Fort Lauderdale Florida, head to Bermuda, Lisbon, Cadiz, Malaga and Barcelona. A Spanish sampler of sorts. However, ship troubles at the port of Lisbon changed the plans, and we missed out on Cadiz and Malaga. Our trip became: Florida, Bermuda, Lisbon [...]

Birthday Herb Garden
May 5th, 2008 3 Comments
This is what I did this weekend. I missed out on germinating my own seeds this year due to our holiday. So, we went to Richter’s this weekend to get our herbs. Trips to Sheridan Nurseries for pots and dirt and supplies, plus a birthday afternoon of transplanting, and this is the result: There are [...]

Flour’s Nose
May 1st, 2008 8 Comments
We spent two weeks away from home, and Flour went off to her breeder’s place and boarded for the duration. She supposedly spent the whole time roughhousing and playing with other westie doggies, and really enjoyed herself. We got her back with a beautiful black nose (no more snow nose!), and a limp. Here she [...]
