Winter/Spring Term 2009

January 8th, 2009 by May

I will soon be finding out my grades for my first and very challenging term. I think a lot of it was the amount of readings, the time it takes me to write my essays given being really out of practise in essay writing. Seriously, I think it may have been in high school when I wrote more than 1 essay a year.

I worked really hard and the grades will be fine so I’m not anxious about it. A nice change from my undergraduate years. I found most of the courses from last year to have been enjoyable in topic even if the workload was crazy for me. It was very challenging to work on group projects when everyone’s work and school schedules are so different. This should be better this term because I have only two group/presentation work this term. Makes it easier as well since this is winter and commute is a pain.

But I digress, my planned courses for this term are:

The Legal course I’m looking forward to due to my interest in special libraries. Bibliographic control while dry in lecture topic is very important so I look forward to learning more. Information Policy is one of those topics that I never was interested in before last term. The Information & Social Context course introduced a number of social topics with regards to information and I did a research project on the WSIS, which I think really opened my eyes to the importance of information policy, so I’m really looking forward to that class even though it’s really reading intensive. The last course is a required course. The professor, Jenna Hartel, seems really good so, I’m looking forward to the classes.

I had hoped to review my thoughts on the various courses over the Xmas holidays. I ran out of time however. And now, got to get back to gather reading materials for the courses and starting my readings and projects. I’ll try to write down a couple of notes about my experiences in the future.
