While I’ve know where the Japan Foundation was located for a long time, even before I left for NY, I didn’t know of it’s mission or that it had a library!
The student group for CASLIS arranged for a tour of the Japan Foundation Library and I was lucky enough to be included in the small group.
The Chief Librarian Mariko Liliefeldt gave us the tour of the facilities. We started off the event with a great Japanese style snack and tea, and watched a video from Yokoso! Japan campaign.
This might be one of the swankiest libraries you’ve ever gone to. Walking to the library you walk next to Cartier, Chanel. It’s no wonder I think it’s so great
The collection is small but focused on Japanese cultural materials. They have books in both Japanese and English.
I’m looking forward to when school is on break to read some Manga. I’m sure G will want to borrow some of the movies. To see the full list of their offerings, check out the OPAC.
Hopefully some photos from the tour will be posted soon, I’ll update with link at that point.
